My Story

Life has granted me a rich collection of events and circumstances through which I have experienced a broad spectrum of suffering and happiness. I humbly recognize my many privileges, and I continue to learn and grow from the unique intersection of diversities that I embody.

My adolescent history of loss and trauma left me anxious, depressed, and confused. After years of struggling with emptiness and destructive behaviors,  I finally sought help.

I found a psychotherapist whose integrative approach helped facilitate genuine change in my perspective and behavior. The profoundly healing relationship with my first therapist opened my heart and mind to the limitless possibility of conscious evolution, prompting me to embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation that continues to this day. This path has led me to influential teachers and therapists, many modes of healing, and now a career in the field of psychology & consciousness.

While returning to mySelf and finding my place in the world, I felt called to serve others, and began volunteering with various non-profits.  I discovered the Art of Living Foundation, a worldwide humanitarian NGO, which leads service projects for developing countries and disaster relief, and also teaches meditation, yoga, breathwork, and Vedic wisdom, for stress management and spiritual practice.  Through the Art of Living, I discovered the joy of selfless service, and the healing power of breathwork and meditation.

I also became involved with Shakti Rising, a grass-roots organization that focuses on community development through the empowering of women. Along with community development, Shakti Rising offers classes and retreat workshops designed to promote personal transformation and create conscious leaders. Shakti also operates a residential treatment program for traumatized women and non-binary folks ages 15-30.

Shakti Rising's Transformational Recovery (TR) Program is an immersive holistic healing intensive which  facilitates sustainable transformation in women who have survived all types of trauma, many of whom have exhausted all traditional treamtment options. As a teacher and mentor in the TR program, I worked with small groups, and one on one with the TR residents. Witnessing the raw process of healing in these survivors impressed me deeply, leaving me both heart-open and inspired.  I decided to pursue a career in transformational recovery.

My personal healing journey, and my continual involvement with Shakti Rising and The Art of Living have moved me to a life dedicated to the exploration of consciousness and psychology.
